Safran Cabin Lamphun wins at Manufacturing Asia Awards 2025 for manufacturing excellence
Its transformative E2E programme delivers efficiency, customer-centric operations, and measurable performance improvements.
Safran Cabin Lamphun won Thailand Lean Manufacturing Initiative of the Year - Aerospace and Defense in the Manufacturing Asia Awards 2025.
The company’s Electrical Inserts Business Unit (EIT) launched a comprehensive End-to-End (E2E) Transformation programme in 2024 to restore operational performance and improve customer satisfaction following a major divestment.
The initiative addressed key challenges in lead times, productivity, delivery adherence, and ergonomic risks for the production of aircraft galley equipment, including ovens, beverage chillers, and trash compactors. By applying Line Architecture Design Methodology, optimising layouts, deploying QRQC processes, digitising the supply chain, and encouraging participative innovation, the site achieved significant operational improvements.
Production flow length was reduced by 89% from 69.5 m to 8 m, lead times dropped by 85% from 1,339 minutes to 204 minutes, and capacity on high-runner lines increased by 120% from 5 to 11 units per week. Warehouse efficiency improved with an 87% reduction in work-in-progress (THB2.3m) and an 80% reduction in inventory ageing (13 days). Ergonomic interventions reduced musculoskeletal risk scores from 13 to 7 in critical areas, supporting safer and more sustainable working conditions.
Digital tools, including AVIX for video work instructions, WIPSIM for real-time capacity simulation, and Power BI for automated dashboards, replaced manual systems and enhanced visibility, efficiency, and decision-making. Employee engagement also played a key role, with 960 ideas implemented in H2 2024 and 271 in H1 2025 through a participative innovation programme, empowering operators to shape their workspace and processes.
