Thai Union Ingredients wins two awards at Manufacturing Asia Awards 2025
Elevated and consistent product quality and unique incoming raw material processes are now recognised by awards in two categories.
Thai Union Ingredients has won the Thailand Excellence Award - Food and the Thailand Quality Control Initiative of the Year - Food in the Manufacturing Asia Awards 2025. The company received honours for its transformative Marine Collagen Sensory Excellence Initiative and the Raw Material Improvement & Quality Control Initiative, which have radically enhanced product quality and overall operational performance.
The Marine Collagen Sensory Excellence Initiative actively addresses the inherent sensory sensitivity found in all marine collagen peptides, particularly for premium international customers demanding absolute neutrality. Bringing together teams from sales, factory operations, research & development and sourcing, the initiative has implemented advanced sensory evaluation, in-process monitoring, and process adjustments, including activated carbon optimisation and refined microbial controls.
Designed to reach a sustained neutral odour and taste, ensuring quality consistency. These measures have resulted in record-high Grade A batches whilst lower Grade quality levels have neared zero, boosting customer confidence and driving new orders from Europe and Asia.
Meanwhile, the Raw Material Improvement & Quality Control Initiative focused on improving raw material quality for ThalaCol™ Marine tuna collagen production. Thai Union Ingredients collaborated with suppliers to implement training, on-site engagement, sanitation protocols, and rigorous inspection procedures.
The results are significant: the initiative has achieved a skin supply rejection rate of 0%, and collagen yields increased significantly, surpassing the target by 2.6x, ensuring a consistent and premium-grade supply chain.
Together, the Collagen Sensory Excellence Initiative and Raw Material Improvement & Quality Control Initiative exemplify Thai Union Ingredients’ approach to continuous improvement, combining scientific methods, operational discipline, and supplier collaboration. Both projects strengthened the company’s position in international markets and set new benchmarks for premium Marine collagen production.
