Century Pacific Agricultural Ventures Inc. nabs win at Asian Export Awards 2024
It has supported the livelihood of 1,600 coconut farmers and traders, as well as those of 3,500 skilled coconut workers and professionals.
Integrated coconut manufacturer Century Pacific Agricultural Ventures Inc. (CPAVI) was recognised at the coveted Asian Export Awards 2024 for its unique business model of being an exporter of coconut water products.
Since its inception, CPAVI has strayed away from the traditional business model of integrated coconut producers in the Philippines, wherein copra or desiccated coconut is their main product. The company has branched out to other higher value-added coconut products like virgin coconut oil and coconut milk, after starting with coconut water as its core product.
Its role as a partner of growth is most evident in the success of the global coconut water brand Vita Coco, which has been CPAVI’s client for the past 11 years. Since the former does not have any manufacturing facility, it is essential that its original equipment manufacturer (OEM) grow in step with theirs, strictly adhering to stringent quality standards. CPAVI has embodied this objective as it has grown to be the largest supplier-partner of Vita Coco.
In 2023, it exported a total volume of 43 million litres of coconut water.
In its early days, CPAVI produced a mere 5 million litres of coconut water in a year. This past year, it is now able to produce nothing less than 4 million litres in a month’s time. This is enabled by harnessing all the company’s resources, together with partner farmers and traders, to deliver the raw materials needed to bring the finished goods to the brand owners.
The company has supported the livelihood of 1,600 coconut farmers and traders, as well as those of 3,500 skilled coconut workers and professionals.
Beyond its mission to do well, CPAVI is also wired to help the Philippine coconut industry in its endeavours. Across its areas of operations in Mindanao, the company gives out coconut tree seedlings to communities. This 2024 alone, it has given 20,000 pieces of coconut seedlings. It has also planted a million coconut trees together with its partners Gcash and Hope Foundation.
Vita Coco’s Managing Director Yen Chin Tho noted that its partnership with CPAVI has been instrumental in driving its business growth and success amidst its proactive approach to capacity expansion and the quality and consistency of its products.
“Throughout our long-standing relationship, CPAVI has demonstrated remarkable resilience and dedication, particularly during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite severe supply chain disruptions, they ensured uninterrupted product delivery, enabling us to not just maintain but grow our business,” she said.
CPAVI received the Philippines Export Service of the Year - Non-Alcoholic Beverages category win in the prestigious awards programme for this remarkable success.
