Zamira Fashion clinches Designed in Hong Kong Award - Textile category
Its Biodegradable Jean can be fully decomposed in the environment after being used.
A big challenge for many clothing brands today is ensuring sustainability as they manufacture their products. For Zamira Fashion, sustainability is more than a trend or a marketing tool, committing and pushing itself to continuously find new ways to develop greener products.
The company has been on the frontline when it comes to sustainability, having thoroughly invested in technology, specialised manpower, and certifications for over five years. It has also cemented its position as a leading supplier of sustainable denim as it became a member of Jeans Redesign project in 2020.
Zamira Fashion has manufactured its Biodegradable Jean with this in mind. The jean is able to fully decompose in the environment after being used. It also promotes sustainable and biodegradable products from trims to its very own hangtag, which includes plant seeds that buyers can plant in their own gardens.
Moreover, most of the biodegradable jeans being manufactured by other brands are mostly made with 100% cotton or cotton/lycra. This makes cotton not that sustainable as the global demand is too high and the material uses quite a lot of chemicals.
As such, Zamira Fashion developed a fabric that is a blend of organic cotton and hemp, reducing the cotton usage and promoting hemp as one of the most sustainable materials, since it needs less water, and grows faster and more easily than cotton.
The company said the Biodegradable Jean project’s concept is still new, but it has achieved its target of being considered the leading sustainable practice supplier within its own customers.

The innovation brought by Zamira Fashion’s biodegradable clothing has been recognised by industry experts, as the company took home the Designed in Hong Kong Award - Textile category.
The HKB Made in Hong Kong Awards and Designed in Hong Kong Awards programme aims to recognise products manufactured and designed in Hong Kong on their branding, unique selling points, product effectiveness, and customer satisfaction.
