Valeo integrates automatic gearbox into e-bikes

The automotive giant brings car-like automation and anti-theft features.

Valeo is redefining the future of e-bikes with a fully integrated automatic gearbox and motor system, a move that mirrors the evolution of automatic transmission in cars.

“The key innovation of this product is to combine the classical motors and a gearbox. It's completely automatic, like automatic cars, your pedals and the software inside the product will give you the right assistance,” said Benjamin Morliere, Platform Director - Ebike at Valeo.

What sets Valeo apart from competitors is the fusion of automation and security. “This gearbox transforms the product into an automatic bike.,” Morliere explained during the Taipei Cycle 2025. “Second is the anti-theft system.
