Philippines courts Swedish manufacturing investment to boost jobs

They also tackled industrial investment and its potential to support employment.

The Philippines and Sweden discussed potential cooperation in manufacturing and industrial sectors during a meeting in Manila, according to the Philippine Department of Finance.

“What we are pushing for is job creation. We welcome manufacturing investments, for instance, because it has the capability to create many jobs for the country’s highly skilled labour force,” Finance Secretary Frederick D. Go said.

The discussion also covered industrial investment and its potential to support employment through processing, electronics, manufacturing, and services.

Both sides said they aim to expand economic cooperation, including in energy, digitalisation, healthcare, agriculture, food security, electronics, mineral processing, and services.
