A marginal pickup was more than offset by contractions in the mining and electricity sector output.
India’s industrial production slowed to 1.5% in June, compared to an upwardly revised 1.9% in May, according to a CareEdge report.
A marginal pickup in the manufacturing sector growth was more than offset by contractions in both the mining and electricity sector output.
On the investment front, infrastructure and construction goods had a healthy 7.2% growth in June.
“Whilst private capex is yet to show meaningful traction, public capex continues to remain encouraging,” CareEdge said.
Moreover, on the demand side, signals remain mixed as output of consumer non-durable goods remains weak, whilst output of consumer durable goods improved.
