Olam unit-WNC JV expands savoury production in Philippines

The new facility will produce seasonings, marinades, and dry mixes.

Olam Group’s food ingredients arm, ofi, has formed a joint venture (JV) with WNC Capital Holdings to expand savoury solutions production in the Philippines and establish a manufacturing facility in Bulacan province.

The division said in a press release that the JV, named ofi Philippines Blends, will include a new plant scheduled for commissioning by the fourth quarter of 2026.

The facility will produce seasonings, marinades, dry mixes, and related savoury ingredients for food and beverage (F&B) manufacturers and foodservice operators.

The companies said the operation will expand seasoning and flavour development capacity in the country to support demand for product development and customisation aligned with local taste preferences, alongside a streamlined process from product concept to commercialisation.

ofi Philippines Blends will work with local F&B brands on product development and formulation, whilst connecting local customers to ofi’s wider Asia-Pacific network, including customer solutions centres and manufacturing and innovation hubs.

The partners added in the press release that the JV will reduce reliance on imported solutions and support local production of savoury ingredients, whilst providing access to regional ingredient sourcing and formulation capabilities.

ofi added that the Philippines market requires shorter product cycles and greater product differentiation due to competition and changing consumer demand.

WNC Capital Holdings said the JV builds on its existing relationships with Philippine food manufacturers and its distribution partnership with ofi in the country.

William Chuacokiong, Founder and President of WNC Capital Holdings, said the JV will support local brands as they expand in domestic and international markets.

The companies cited consumer preference for locally inspired dishes and openness to regional Asian flavours, including Japanese, Korean, and Chinese cuisines.

They also cited demand for products that remain accessible, affordable, and consistent.
