
Malaysia's manufacturing sales value jump 5.9% in June
Manufacturing sales value in Malaysia increased by 5.9% in June, reaching $34.99b (156.1b ringgit), according to the Department of Statistics Malaysia.
The department said that this growth was mainly driven by the electrical and electronics products sub-sector, registering an 8.6% increase.
The non-metallic mineral products, basic metal and fabricated metal products jumped by 11.1%.
In May, sales value had reached $34.08b (154.9b ringgit), showing a 0.8% growth month-on-month.
In the second quarter of the year, manufacturing sector sales grew by 5.7% to $102.12b (464.2b ringgit), with electrical and electronics products (7.3%) and food, beverages, and tobacco (8.2%) sub-sectors leading the way.
For the first half of the year, the manufacturing sector sales value rose by 3.7% year on year to $202.73b (921.5b ringgit).
