Global semiconductor sales up almost 18% in January
Annual sales increased in Asia Pacific and 3 other regions except Europe.
Global semiconductor sales reached $56.5b in January 2025, the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) announced.
This figure represents a 17.9% increase compared to January 2024, when sales were $47.9b, but it is a 1.7% decrease from December 2024's sales of $57.5b. These monthly sales figures are compiled by the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) organisation and reflect a three-month moving average. The SIA accounts for 99% of the US semiconductor industry by revenue and nearly two-thirds of non-US semiconductor companies.
“After achieving its highest annual sales ever in 2024, the global semiconductor market continued to gain momentum in January, setting a new record for monthly sales in that month, even though there was a slight drop from December,” said John Neuffer, SIA president and CEO. “Sales have increased by over 17% year-over-year for the ninth consecutive month, largely due to a 50.7% rise in sales to the Americas.”
Regionally, annual sales rose in the Americas (50.7%), Asia Pacific/All Other (9%), China (6.5%), and Japan (5.7%); however, sales decreased in Europe (-6.4%).
On a month-on-month basis, sales in January increased in Asia Pacific/All Other (1.6%), but declined in Europe (-1.3%), China (-2.0%), Japan (-3.1%), and the Americas (-3.5%).
