Global chip sales up 21.7% in August
Asia-Pacific leads the charge as chip sales climb
The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) announced on Oct. 3 that the global semiconductor sales totalled $64.9 billion in August 2025.
This was up 21.7 per cent on August 2024’s $53.3 billion and 4.4 per cent higher than July 2025’s $62.1 billion.
Monthly sales are compiled by the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) organisation and represent a three-month moving average.
SIA accounts for 99 per cent of the US semiconductor industry by revenue and almost two-thirds of non-US chip firms.
“Global semiconductor sales continued to rise in August, well ahead of August last year,” said John Neuffer, SIA president and chief executive. “Sales in the Asia Pacific region and the Americas continue to drive growth, with memory and logic chips notably increasing.”
Regionally, year on year in August, sales jumped in Asia Pacific/All Other (43.1 per cent), the Americas (25.5 per cent), China (12.4 per cent) and Europe (4.4 per cent), but fell in Japan (-6.9 per cent). Month on month in August, sales increased in Asia Pacific/All Other (6.9 per cent), the Americas (4.3 per cent), China (3.3 per cent), Japan (2.0 per cent) and Europe (1.0 per cent).
