Hong Kong plans to develop AI centre

The Supercomputing centre will boost the city’s demand for AI services.

Hong Kong’s Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO) will accept any consultancy proposals for a feasibility study on developing the city’s artificial intelligence (AI) Supercomputing Centre.

The city government will conduct the feasibility study and its related business model to assess and ascertain the demand for AI services in Hong Kong, the scale of their required investments, and the operational model and implementation strategy they can use.

Once the feasibility study is complete, they will explore making the Supercomputing Centre into a strategic technology infrastructure that can provide AI services to local universities, research institutes, government departments, and industry sectors.

The Supercomputing Centre will also strengthen Hong Kong’s research and development capabilities, advance related industry ecosystems, and accelerate AI industry developments within the city.
