Singapore manufacturing output rises 6.8% in July
Precision engineering led gains, followed by electronics.
Singapore’s manufacturing output rose 6.8% year on year in July, led by higher production of semiconductor equipment and other precision engineering products, according to the Economic Development Board.
On a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis, manufacturing output grew 2.3%.
Amongst the sector’s clusters, precision engineering led gains with 17.7% growth, supported by higher production of semiconductor equipment, optical instruments, electronic connectors, and other precision components.
Electronics increased 11.2% on sustained artificial intelligence-related demand, whilst transport engineering climbed 10.8% on higher aerospace and land output.
General manufacturing industries rose 4.9%, led by increased production of beverage and dairy products.
However, chemicals declined 10.6% due to plant maintenance, softer demand, and feedstock supply disruptions. Biomedical manufacturing fell 5.3% on weaker medical-device export orders and changes in pharmaceutical production.
